Broncos placed LB Jordan Turner on the reserve/non-football injury list.

The Denver Post’s Luca Evans describes the development as being “potentially quite notable” for the Broncos’ inside linebacker depth. He believes Turner “had a real shot” to win the No. 3 role behind LB Alex Singleton and LB Justin Strnad. Perhaps he still can. Only time will tell. The Broncos also placed OG Nick Gargiulo on the physically unable to perform list.

Broncos signed FB Adam Prentice, formerly of the Saints, to a contract.

Prentice’s signing makes sense, at least in the short term. The Broncos’ starting FB Michael Burton is dealing with a hamstring injury. It’s unlikely the team will keep two fullbacks on the active roster, so this could foreshadow Burton’s injury being one that keeps him out for a while. The Broncos correspondingly placed OG Nick Gargiulo on injured reserve.

Broncos selected South Carolina C Nick Gargiulo with the No. 256 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Gargiulo (6’5/318) started his career at Yale, where he started in all but one of the 25 games he appeared in. He would transfer to South Carolina for his senior season, starting all 12 games while splitting snaps at center and guard. A versatile lineman who has ample experience on the interior and at tackle, Gargiulo could play several positions at the next level but will need to show more physicality to cut it in the pro ranks. He struggles to stay on balance with his blocks and was fine, but not great in his one season of FBS play. It goes without saying that a leap to the NFL will require an adjustment period.
