The Jaguars have reportedly agreed to a trade to help bolster their offensive line in the wake of guard Patrick Mekari’s back surgery.
Evan Barnes of Newsday reports that the Giants have agreed to trade Daniel Faalele to Jacksonville in exchange for a late-round pick in the 2027 draft.
Faalele started every game at guard for the Ravens the last two seasons and he followed John Harbaugh to the Giants as a free agent this offseason. First-round pick Francis Mauigoa and Jon Runyan are set to start at guard for the NFC East club, however, and that’s made Faalele expendable.
It’s unclear how long Mekari will be out, but starting the regular season on injured reserve would force him to miss at least the first four games of the year.
Jaguars Clips
The Jaguars are dealing with a series of injuries, including one to a key receiver.
Via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Parker Washington is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and will be out until the end of the week.
Entering his fourth season, Washington appeared in 16 games with seven starts last year, catching 58 passes for 847 yards with five touchdowns.
Second-year running back LeQuint Allen will be out for the rest of camp with a soft-tissue injury that he suffered during Monday’s practice.
Additionally, offensive lineman Wyatt Milum is day-to-day and expected back next week.
And quarterback Nick Mullens is practicing on Tuesday, despite getting banged up during Saturday’s preseason game.
Jaguars right guard Patrick Mekari recently underwent surgery on his back and will miss some time, NFL Media reports.
Mekari’s prognosis is unclear.
NFL Media adds that Mekari is expected to play this season but could start the season on injured reserve. He would miss at least the first four games on IR.
Wyatt Milum, who played only 96 offensive snaps in 2025 as a rookie, is listed as the second-team right guard. But Walker Little, who currently is out with an injury, and Jonah Monheim have also seen time there.
The Jaguars are banged up in the offensive line. In addition to Mekari and Little, offensive tackle Chuma Edoga also is out with an injury, and offensive tackle Cole Van Lanen is on the active/PUP list.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence may be on the field when Jacksonville plays Carolina on Friday night.
Head coach Liam Coen told reporters on Monday that he’s “trending toward” playing the starters “a little bit” on Friday night.
“So that’s the goal right now, is to look at potentially playing [Lawrence] a little Friday night,” Coen said Monday, via transcript from the team. “You just look at the amount of padded days that we actually have left until the game week and it’s very few and far between. So, you set a schedule, you set it, and you’re like, well, timing and circumstances, things change and when you have to pivot a little bit.
“I think we need a little bit more work in terms of coming off of the Saints joint [practice] and the Saints game, I think we just need a little bit more padded work against each other, good on good. Can’t really do it today. We had to pivot a little bit, so would like to maybe see these guys Friday night go out there and get a couple drives potentially, and that’ll also help alleviate some of the depth, as you mentioned, to get some of these guys some work, knowing that I’m not playing them in [preseason] Week 3.”
Nick Mullens started Jacksonville’s preseason opener on Saturday, but is now dealing with an undisclosed injury that will affect his availability this week — though Coen said Mullens could potentially practice Wednesday if he’s feeling better.
“He got kind of dinged in the game, so just trying to let it slow down, let it chill out, and give these other guys some reps too,” Coen said, noting that they’re being precautionary with Mullens. “We got to get Carter [Bradley] and Joey [Aguilar] some more reps, and when Nick’s able to go, we’ll get him back out there.”
The Jaguars will host the Panthers on Friday night with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Jaguars announced several transactions on Monday morning.
They have signed linebacker Baylon Spector and offensive lineman Timothy McKay to their 90-man roster. They cleared space for the new additions by placing linebacker Parker Hughes on injured reserve and waiving tight end Ethan Connor.
Spector was a 2022 seventh-round pick by Buffalo. He appeared in 29 games over the last four seasons and had 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. Spector also had two tackles in three postseason games.
Spector went to Clemson and was a college teammate of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
McKay was undrafted in 2025 and he spent the season on the Commanders’ practice squad.
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said last month that the team is expecting running back Bhayshul Tuten to have a big year for them, but Tuten has not nailed down the top spot on the depth chart.
The team released its first depth chart of the year and it shows Tuten or Chris Rodriguez listed in the No. 1 spot in the backfield. Tuten is in his second year with the Jaguars while Rodriguez signed with the team as a free agent this offseason.
Le’Quint Allen, Ameer Abdullah, DeeJay Dallas, and J’Mari Taylor make up the rest of the running back group.
The Jaguars have one other position with a pair of players listed at the top. Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs are joined at one of the team’s linebacker spots.
Last month, former NFL defensive end and former ESPN/Fox broadcaster Marcellus Wiley was arrested in Florida for domestic violence. Via TMZ, the charges have now been dropped.
In court documents, prosecutors informed the court that the case would not proceed, explaining that “testimonial evidence received is not corroborated by any physical or other evidence and is therefore insufficient to obtain a conviction.”
Wiley’s wife, Annemarie, claimed that Wiley had used “one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek.”
Annemarie Wiley thereafter filed for divorce and applied for a restraining order, accusing him of past instances of physical abuse and rape. Marcellus Wiley strongly denied the allegations.
On Twitter, Marcellus Wiley celebrated the latest development. “Welcome to the Real HouseLies of Annemarie,” he said, among other things.
The simple truth as to criminal cases is that most prosecutors won’t proceed unless they believe the evidence supports a finding of guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. With no physical evidence or injury and no corroboration of her claims, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to get a jury to find that her allegations and his denial combine to satisfy the very high burden of proof.
Wiley spent 10 years in the NFL, playing for the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars. He worked for ESPN through 2018, and he then worked at Fox Sports until 2022.
Emmanuel Ogbah won a Super Bowl LIV ring as a member of the Chiefs and he’s reportedly set for another tour of duty with the AFC West team.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Ogbah will sign a one-year deal with the team. Ogbah had 32 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble for the Chiefs in the 2019 regular season, but missed their postseason run with a torn pectoral.
Ogbah moved on to the Dolphins after his season in Kansas City and spent five years in Miami before joining the Jaguars last season. He had 15 tackles in 13 games for Jacksonville.
Ogbah began his career as a Browns second-round pick in 2016. He has 332 tackles, 48 sacks, two interceptions, nine forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries for his career.
The Jaguars will be missing their biggest names when they take the field in New Orleans for their preseason opener on Saturday.
Head coach Liam Coen said at a Tuesday press conference that the team’s starters will not play against the Saints. The Jaguars will also have a joint practice with the NFC South club this week, so those players will get work in what Coen called a “controlled setting.”
With Trevor Lawrence out of the picture for Saturday, Coen said that quarterback Carter Bradley will get a lot of playing time. Nick Mullens and Joey Aguilar are the other quarterbacks on the roster.
The Jaguars will play the Panthers and the Buccaneers in their final two preseason games.
The Jaguars picked up a new linebacker on Tuesday morning.
They announced the signing of Amari Burney. Cornerback Keni-H Lovely was waived to open a spot for Burney on the 90-man roster.
Burney was a 2023 sixth-round pick by the Raiders. He had 32 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 24 games over his first two seasons.
The Raiders waived Burney in May 2025 and he was claimed by the Titans. He remained in Tennessee until being let go during their cut to 53 players at the end of last summer.
Lovely spent last season on Jacksonville’s practice squad.
