Ohio is suddenly a hotbed of NFL dysfunction.
Per multiple reports, 49ers owner Jed York was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio.
Per WKBN, York pleaded no contest on Monday morning to two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and “possessing criminal tools” (here’s the relevant Ohio statute).
York, per the report, was already sentenced to two days in jail (with credit for one day served) and $1,150 in fines.
According to KRON, the prosecution had amended a charge of engaging in prostitution to disorderly conduct.
York presumably will be subject to NFL discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy. Given the perception that owners are treated differently than players, it will be interesting to see whether and to what extent York receives the same or similar punishment that a player would experience for the same offense.
