After being let go as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff with the firing of head coach Romeo Crennel, Adam Zimmer is heading to Cincinnati to work alongside his father.

The Bengals announced Tuesday that Adam has been hired to serve as an assistant secondary coach under secondary coach Mark Carrier. Adam’s father, Mike, has served as the Bengals defensive coordinator for the last five seasons.

“Adam is a good young coach with two great experiences already in the NFL,” head coach Marvin Lewis said in a news release. “I’m very confident he will do a fine job.”

Adam spent the last three seasons working for the Chiefs as a defensive assistant and assistant linebackers coach. He was initially hired to serve under head coach Todd Haley. Adam remained a member of the coaching staff following Haley’s firing when Crennel was promoted to head coach.

Prior to his time in Kansas City, Adam worked for four years in the same role for the New Orleans Saints under head coach Sean Payton.
