Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor played 57 snaps against the Cardinals last week and didn’t have a catch, but he’s looking on the bright side.
Agholor said Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson was shadowing him all game, and that proves the Cardinals think highly of Agholor’s skills.
“It’s actually a tribute to have a guy like Patrick Peterson following me around the whole game,” Atholor said, via Philly.com. “It tells you the guy respects your game and he’s going to come ready to go. What I have to do, if he respects me, I have to show him why he respects me and play harder and make plays.”
Agholor says he doesn’t look at his statistics.
“I don’t really pay attention to that,” he said. “I just play the game. I was trying to run to get open. The guy in front of me was playing hard, and my job was to try as hard as I possibly can to get open and create separation.”
Agholor may not have lost any confidence, but it’s hard to argue that he hasn’t been a disappointment as the Eagles’ first first-round pick since giving Chip Kelly full personnel control. Agholor has just 19 catches for 225 yards and one touchdown this season, and the game against the Cardinals was the second time in the last three weeks he’s been held without a catch. It’s hard to see anything positive about that, no matter how hard Agholor tries.
