AL DAVIS WANTED WHITTINGHAM?

Our own John Taylor of CollegeFootballTalk.com has discovered in a fluff piece about Utah coach Kyle Whittingham an interesting, but woefully undeveloped, nugget regarding Whittingham and a certain NFL team with a reputation for unconventional approaches to filling out its coaching staff. Specifically, Raiders owner Al Davis became interested in Whittingham after the Utes lambasted Alabama in the Vandalay Industries Sugar Bowl. But not as the head coach.
