As it turns out, Drew Rosenhaus isn’t the only agent who’s tweeting. In fact, another agent with a Twitter account is the same agent who represents Jets running back Leon Washington, who was called out (sort of) by Rosenhaus regarding whether the media will make as big a deal out of Washington’s absence from underwear practices as it has regarding the absence of Thomas Jones, a Rosenhaus client. Alvin Keels said yesterday that “I think the Jets are a little pissed at me right now!” (Apparently, Keels used an exclamation point to curry favor with Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.) Keels also has said that he’s hoping to have a productive conversation with the Jets on Tuesday, and that he wants “to get my client Leon Washington back into the off-season program.” The problem, of course, is the fact that Washington is in the final year of a contract that will pay him only $535,000 in 2009 -- and that absent a new CBA he’ll be only a restricted free agent in 2010. Reportedly, Washington viewed the team’s first offer on a long-term deal as “insulting.” So the Jets have the leverage, and the only thing Washington can safely do to display his displeasure is to stay away from the team’s voluntary involuntary workouts.
