With so many defensive linemen in New England, we have been waiting to see what players emerge. The ones that don’t could be shown the door because of a roster crunch.
Former Redskin Andre Carter looks likely to stick. And very possibly start.
Carter started Thursday night against Tampa Bay, and had his way with tackle Donald Penn and Bucs backup James Lee. Carter had three pressures, three holds drawn, and a quarterback hit, Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Globe notes.
“Penn was so pathetic that one time he just tried to use his butt to block Carter. And it didn’t work,” Bedard writes.
We still have our doubts about New England’s ability to rush the passer, but with Jerod Mayo blitzing more (2 sacks last night), Bill Belichick may be starting to find solutions.
