Congratulations to everyone who took Week One in their office pool for when the first Eagles quarterback controversy would erupt.
While there may be a segment of the fanbase that wants to see more of Michael Vick after he led the Eagles on a valiant comeback attempt Sunday, coach Andy Reid tried to dampen any speculation after Sunday’s 27-20 loss.
Reid said that Kevin Kolb would start next week over Vick next week as long as Kolb was healthy. No surprise there. Kolb left Sunday’s game with a concussion after throwing for only 24 yards on ten attempts.
Vick finished 16-of-24 for 175 yards and a touchdown for the day, and added 103 yards rushing. (He also passed on a great chance to rush for a score, costing his team points.)
The Packers held on to win, but it’s clear this is a different Michael Vick this year. Just not different enough to pass Kolb on the depth chart. (And yes, this is the only sensible thing for Reid to do right now. Of course.)
