Offensive lineman Anthony Davis was not on the trip Friday when the 49ers flew to Charlotte for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers.
Davis suffered a concussion during Thursday’s practice and has been placed in the league’s concussion protocol. The team said Davis has not talked about retiring again, which he had reportedly done last week before the team called his absence from practice as a miscommunication.
Davis played three snaps in last week’s game as a backup tackle. He retired before the 2015 season, in part due to concussions, following five seasons as the team’s starting right tackle.
