Philip Rivers hasn’t been on the Chargers’ injury report all season.
But he reportedly could be hurting.
After the Chargers’ 13-6 win vs. the Raiders on Sunday, tight end Antonio Gates said Rivers has “been dealing with a rib injury, a very severe rib injury, so he’s been toughing it out these last three or four weeks,” according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Rivers was twice shaken up during the second half of Sunday’s game, with the team’s medical staff checking out his left knee in the third quarter and his ribs/midsection in the fourth quarter, per the CBS telecast. However, he didn’t miss a play.
Rivers, for his part, told the Union-Tribune he was “no more banged up than other” NFL quarterbacks.
The Chargers’ will release their first injury report of Week 12 on Wednesday. They host the Rams next Sunday.
The Chargers (6-4) played their first game after their bye on Sunday. Five of their final six games are on Sundays. They have one less day of rest and recuperation leading into the Saturday, December 20 game at San Francisco and one more day of preparation leading into the season finale at Kansas City on Sunday, December 28.
