Free agent offensive tackle Nate Chandler plans to sign with the Bears, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.

The Bears had worked out fellow free agent tackle Jake Long but instead opted to sign Chandler, who was released by the Panthers in March. Chandler missed all of last season with a knee injury. He started 11 games at right tackle in 2014 and eight games in 2013 at both guard and tackle.

Chandler, 27, had recently set up a visit with the Lions.

The Bears plan to move Kyle Long -- no relation to Jake -- back to guard after injuries forced him to move out to tackle last season. They previously signed tackle Bobby Massie, presumably to play right tackle, and have second-year man Charles Leno at left tackle.
