The Bears have further bolstered their numbers at a position of need.

The club announced Tuesday it had reached one-year agreements with safeties Danny McCray and Craig Steltz.

McCray, 26, made 10 starts for Dallas on defense in 2012. Last season, the fifth-year pro notched eight special teams tackles for the Cowboys. Like Steltz, McCray is an LSU product.

Steltz, 27, appeared in 16 games for the Bears last season, recording 23 tackles. Steltz, who enters his seventh NFL campaign, ranked among Chicago’s leaders in special teams tackles in 2013.

The Bears now have five safeties on the roster, three of which were with other teams a season ago. Chicago added M.D. Jennings (Packers) and Ryan Mundy (Giants) last week, and Steltz and free safety Chris Conte are currently the only holdovers from 2013.
