The Bears have added a coach from the reigning national champions to their coaching staff.
Chicago has hired Ohio State assistant head coach-offense/running backs Stan Drayton as its running backs coach, the team said Thursday.
Drayton replaces Skip Peete, whom the Bears have announced they will not retain.
The 43-year-old Drayton has spent the majority of his career in the collegiate ranks, but he did have a three-season stint with Green Bay from 2001 through 2003 (offensive quality control coach/special teams).
Drayton has been an assistant on a pair of national-title teams under Urban Meyer. He was running backs coach on Florida’s 2006 championship-winning club.
