The Cincinnati Bengals announced Thursday that they have signed fifth-round pick Shaun Prater to a four-year contract.
Prater, the 156th overall pick in last month’s draft, started 35 games at cornerback for the Hawkeyes. Prater amassed seven career interceptions and forced four fumbles as a senior.
An undersized off-zone corner at Iowa, Prater projects as a potential slot cornerback with special teams value in Cincinnati. He’ll compete for a roster spot in training camp.
