Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert has suffered what appears to be a serious elbow injury today in Baltimore.

Eifert caught a pass in the first quarter, took a hard hit and went down in obvious pain. His elbow was bent awkwardly, the type of injury that the squeamish should not watch.

After a break, Eifert was able to get up and walk off without assistance, but it would seem unlikely that he’s going to return.

The Bengals’ first-round draft pick last year, Eifert had a promising rookie season, catching 39 passes for 445 yards and starting 15 games. The Bengals had high hopes that he could improve on those numbers this year, and if he’s out for a significant period of time it would be a big blow to Cincinnati’s offense.

The Bengals have an early 6-0 lead against the Ravens.
