After Browns coach Hue Jackson jabbed back, ex-Ravens coach Brian Billick attempted to clarify his Wednesday tweet about the Browns during a Cleveland radio appearance Thursday afternoon.
“I never said they were going 0-16,” Billick said on 92.3 The Fan. “I would never predict anybody to go 0-16 or 16-0. It’s statistically improbable. They’re going to be an underdog in any of these games, in my opinion, and it’s going to be a tough road.”
Billick’s Wednesday tweet said he knew he’d be dismissed by some as “just trashing the Browns again” but he challenged those reading his tweet to “look at the schedule and find a single win. You can’t do it!”
So, 24 hours later, Billick said he didn’t really mean to say what he said.
“It’s unfortunate that Hue even has to address it,” Billick said. “Having been in that role, I realize we’re back in first grade, we’re all six years old and someone goes [to ask for his comment].”
When in doubt, always blame the media.
“That’s not what I said and Hue knows that,” Billick said. “I’ve got Hue’s respect. And I think [Browns defensive coordinator] Ray Horton is one of the next head coaches in this league. Unfortunately for Hue and Ray, they just don’t have a lot of players right now.”
