Brady Quinn’s NFL career has been largely disappointing, but under unimaginably difficult circumstances on Sunday, he played what may have been his best game.
After completing 19 of 23 passes for 201 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and leading the Chiefs to a 27-21 win over the Panthers, Quinn has been named the AFC offensive player of the week. Quinn, a 2007 first-round draft pick of the Browns who has also played for the Broncos, had never previously won a player of the week award.
As well as Quinn played on the field, he bolstered his reputation off the field even more for the leadership he showed in the wake of the Jovan Belcher murder-suicide. It’s for that, more than his two touchdown passes, that Quinn deserves recognition this week.
Whether or not Quinn has any future as an NFL starter, he gained a lot of fans this week.
