Brandyn Dombroski gets first crack at Chargers left tackle job

When Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith decided to count out left tackle Marcus McNeill for the first ten games of the season, he immediately brought in veteran Tra Thomas.

Folks assumed Thomas would get the starting job because he initially jumped right in with the first team, but coach Norv Turner must not have loved what he saw.

“We’ll start off with Brandyn Dombrowski at left tackle,” Turner said on NFL Network. “He played eight or nine games at right tackle, but he’s more of a natural fit on the left side. We signed Tra Thomas, which gives us some experience and depth over there.”

Phillip Rivers better hope Turner and Smith knows what they are doing.
