Five days after the Saints commandeered the streets of New Orleans and a bunch of the best Mardi Gras floats, quarterback Drew Brees returned to serve as “monarch of Bacchus” in one of the largest Mardi Gras parades.
Per the Associated Press, Brees threw 10,000 black and gold footballs into the crowd.
While riding a float that looked like a Roman chariot.
And while dressed like the Commodus from Gladiator. (Ray Edwards’ nickname for the 2010 season should be “Maximus.”)
Brees was escorted to the float by police officers and parade officials, and the crowd chanted both Brees’ name and “who dat.”
And Brees probably prefers “who dat” to the “what dat?” treatment he recently received from Oprah Winfrey.
