Broncos catch a break from Brady pick, cut lead in half

Divisional Playoffs - Denver Broncos v New England Patriots

With the Patriots leading 14-0 in the first quarter and with quarterback Tom Brady starting the game in near-perfect fashion and with a sense that the Pats would drive down the field again and build the margin to three touchdowns, the Broncos got exactly what they needed.

A badly overthrown ball was intercepted by Broncos safety Quinton Carter and returned 17 yards, to the New England 24.

And on the first play of the second quarter, Denver running back Willis McGahee drove five yards into the end zone, cutting the lead in half. (With the extra point, of course.)

Hey, the home team led the first game 17-0, and we ended up with an all-time classic. Maybe we’ll get another one in the nightcap.
