Kolby Smith will travel from one branch of the Belichick tree to another.
The former Kansas City Chief was claimed off waivers by the Broncos, who are looking for running back depth behind Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, and J.J. Arrington.
Smith is a powerful back, but didn’t flash special ability in three seasons with the Chiefs. The Broncos also waived 2009 preseason hero punter A.J. Trapasso and Boz relative rookie linebacker Korey Bosworth.
Britton Colquitt becomes the clear starting punter with Trapasso out the door.
