Justin Fargas’ return to the NFL was a brief one.
The Broncos released the former Raiders running back on Monday after less than the three weeks with the team. Denver also designated cornerback Tony Carter as waived/injured.
The Fargas release can be viewed as a sign the Broncos backfield situation is improving. There’s hope Knowshon Moreno will return to practice this week. Correll Buckhalter should be ready for the opener. And the team has chosen Lance Ball over Fargas for depth.
If this is it for Fargas, we’ll always remember how he approached every carry like it was his last. That led to injury problems, but a lot of respect in Oakland. He topped 1,000 yards in 2007 and has a 4.1 yards-per-carry average for his career.
