The Browns have claimed center Gabe Ikard via waivers from the Bills. Ikard’s agent, Ken Sarnoff, tweeted about the move.
Ikard was waived last weekend when the Bills needed a roster spot to promote running back Mike Gillislee. He had played in three games for the Bills.
The Browns are in need of interior line depth. Guard Joel Bitonio left Sunday’s loss to the Bengals with an ankle injury and was replaced by 2015 first-round pick Cam Erving, who was eventually benched and replaced by Austin Pasztor. Starting center Alex Mack can opt out of his contract and become a free agent after the season, so this move makes sense from a potential depth standpoint.
Ikard went undrafted in 2014 and spent the season on the Titans’ injured-reserve list. He was waived at the end of training camp last summer and claimed by the Bills.
