Bucs insist they’re not pursuing Cowher

In response to a report from NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might still be interested in coach Bill Cowher a day after the Buccaneers announced that coach Raheem Morris will return for at least another year, an unnamed, high-ranking member of the organization tells Adam Schefter of ESPN that the team has not reached out to Cowher, and will not do so.

The official calls the report of interest in Cowher “categorically false.”

And that’s where it gets interesting. The supposedly “categorically false” reports appear on a web site that the Bucs partially own, in a 1/32nd chunk. So, in 3.125-percent way, the Bucs are reporting “categorically false” information about themselves.

Then again, Schefter should be familiar with that dynamic. While in the job La Canfora now holds, Schefter was accused by a 1/32nd owner of NFL Network as being a “false rumor monger.”
