Bud Adams tired of “big mistakes” from Titans’ coach and G.M.

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has given a figurative flip of the bird to the way his coach and G.M. have run the team over the last couple of years. But he says he thinks the Titans are on the right track now.

“I think they realize they made some big mistakes, and they are going to correct them,’' Adams said of coach Jeff Fisher and General Manager Mike Reinfeldt, speaking to Joe Biddle of the Tennessean. “Some of our defensive players have gotten older and we are going to replace them. Overall I think we have some pretty good talent. We’re going to see this coming season. I believe we have the wherewithal to get it done. It’s going to be up to Coach Fisher to get the job done.’'

Adams said that at his age, he doesn’t have time to be patient, and he wants the Titans to win and win now.

“I’m 87 now and as close as we have been to getting in the Super Bowl and then blowing it . . . we just have to go in the playoffs and win those games,” Adams said. “We’ve got to get the right people on board. I think our coaching staff can get the job done.’'

Adams is still taking credit for the decision to bench Kerry Collins and start Vince Young, which seemed to reinvigorate the Titans after six games last season.

“We had never started a season losing six games in a row,’' Adams said. “I told [Fisher] Young better start the game and he better put him in there.’'

Fisher did replace Collins for Young, and that turned the team around. If the Titans don’t play in 2010 like they played in the last ten games of 2009, Adams sounds like he may be ready to replace Fisher with another coach.
