Burleson to undergo “minor” elbow surgery

N. Burleson

Nate Burleson will undergo a “minor” elbow surgery soon to have the fluid drained and a bursa sac removed, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Dave Birkett writes that Burleson’s elbow occasionally swells up to the size of a softball, like it did Wednesday at Lions player workouts. That sounds rather unpleasant.

About 32 Lions were on hand for the session, including a slimmed down Brandon Pettigrew who plans to play at 255 pounds after being 270 as a rookie.

Pettigrew and Burleson are two starting complements to Calvin Johnson in the receiving game. Throw in rookie Titus Young and Jahvid Best out of the backfield and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan has a lot of options in the passing game.
