Bus Cook denies talk of Favre return

And so, like a swarm of locusts, the latest sign of the Fourth Annual Brett Favre Unretirement prophecy has arrived.

Agent Bus Cook has denied that Favre has talked to any teams about playing.

Brett Favre retired in January,” Cook told the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. “He has not talked to any teams, including Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. He has not talked to anyone about playing football. He’s retired, period.”

Cook overlooks the fact that Favre technically can’t talk to any teams, given that he technically remains under contract with the Vikings. (Of course, that’s never really stopped anyone.)

Earlier today, former Favre teammate Sterling Sharpe made a great case for Favre returning to the game, even as a backup. Playing football continues to play a lot better than not playing football, even as a second-stringer.

The guy has been living the NFL routine since 1991. He seems to genuinely love being on a team.

Thus, we won’t consider him to be fully retired until two seasons pass without Favre playing.

Especially since Jay Glazer explained earlier today on The Dan Patrick Show that, while the Eagles supposedly aren’t interested now, an in-season injury to Mike Vick could, perhaps, make them interested.
