C.J. Stroud’s strong November put the Texans in playoff contention and now he’s been recognized with a pair of monthly awards.
Stroud has been named the AFC offensive player of the month and the NFL’s offensive rookie of the month.
In four November games, Stroud completed 68.8 percent of his passes for 1,466 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions — good for a passer rating of 109.9. He set a single-game rookie record in Week 9 by throwing for 470 yards in the victory over the Buccaneers. He also threw five touchdowns in that contest.
Stroud had the most passing yards in the NFL and the most touchdown passes in the AFC over the course of the month. He also became the first rookie ever with at least 300 passing yards in four consecutive games.
This is Stroud’s second rookie of the month award, as he also earned the honor in September. He’s also the second rookie QB to win offensive payer of the month, joining Deshaun Watson, who accomplished the feat in Oct. 2017.
Per the Texans, Stroud is the fifth player to ever earn offensive rookie of the month and a conference player of the month award at the same time, with Barry Sanders (1989), Edgerrin James (1999), Mike Anderson (2000), Kareem Hunt (2017) and Watson (2017) previously earning both honors.
In 11 games this season, Stroud has completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 3,266 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.
