Unclaimed in the supplemental draft and then signed as a free agent by the Vikings, former Georgia running back Caleb King received extended playing time in the team’s preseason finale.

King made the most of his opportunity, scoring two touchdowns.

That said, King mustered only 62 yards on 19 attempts for a so-so average of 3.3 yards per attempt.

Rookie quarterback Christian Ponder churned up nearly that many yards (61) on only eight runs. Ponder also completed 10 of 16 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown to fellow rookie tight end Kyle Rudolph.

The Vikings defeated the Texans, 28-0, in a game featuring primarily reserves.

For Houston, quarterback Matt Leinart completed 13 of 16 passes for 145 yards and lost one fumble.
