Greg Camarillo was one of the first Dolphins enthusiastically embraced by The Trifecta (Sparano/Ireland/Parcells) when they arrived in Miami. They signed the undrafted waiver pickup to a three-year deal during the 2008 season, making a statement about what kind of players they were looking for.
The Trifecta traded Camarillo Wednesday, making a statement about the young players they’ve acquired in the meantime.
We’ve ragged on Patrick Turner plenty this offseason, but last year’s third-round pick will make the team after an improved camp. Third-year player Davone Bess -- Wayne Chrebet with dreadlocks -- is in the slot. Second-year pro Brian Hartline will start opposite Brandon Marshall and fits right in with the physical group.
The Dolphins needed an alpha dog and Marshall provides that. But they’ve also done a nice job finding young, quality role players at wide receiver.
A position that was so long a weakness for Miami now looks like a strength.
