Cardinals cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Justin Bethel recently underwent surgeries, the Arizona Republic first reported.
A league source confirmed to PFT that Peterson had surgery on his ankle. The Arizona Republic report said both players are expected to be ready for training camp and that Peterson could participate in team activities in May and June.
Peterson, a five-time Pro Bowler, played through an ankle injury he suffered last November. Bethel, a three-time Pro Bowl special teams player, had a left foot fracture which the report said worsened in the months following the season. He’s not expected to be able to participate in spring activities.
The Cardinals have met with free agent cornerback Jerraud Powers about a reunion. Powers has also met with the Giants. Even if Peterson and Bethel return on schedule, drafting a cornerback -- or maybe two -- would seem to be a priority for the Cardinals.
