The Cardinals have placed several well-known players on injured reserve this season, but the list isn’t reserved for players familiar to fans of all 32 teams.
It’s also for fifth-round picks who have been filling a rotational role on the defensive line. The Cardinals proved that on Tuesday when they placed defensive tackle Ed Stinson on injured reserve because of a toe injury that’s been bothering him for a while.
Stinson missed four of the last five games because of the toe injury, returning against the Rams last Thursday to play two snaps before he was shut down again because of the injury. Stinson, who played at Alabama in college, had six tackles and broke up a pass in his 10 appearances as a rookie.
Stinson is the eighth player and fourth member of the defense to hit injured reserve for Arizona this season.
The Cardinals promoted wide receiver Brittan Golden from the practice squad. He caught four passes for 136 yards in five games for the team in 2013.
