Cardinals reconfigure scouting department

The Arizona Cardinals have declined to renew the contract of a longtime scout and have hired former NFL player Kyle Johnson to fill the void.

The team’s official web site reports that Johnson, a former fullback for the Denver Broncos who last played in 2007, has been hired to scout players in the northeast region of the country and serve as the team’s representative with National Football Scouting.

Johnson fills the vacancy left when the Cardinals did not renew the contract of longtime scout Jerry Hardaway. The Cardinals also shifted the geographic regions that two of their other scouts will cover.

Johnson is a former teammate of Quentin Harris, who was recently promoted in the Cardinals’ pro personnel office to assistant pro personnel director.
