Cardinals coach Bruce Arians wants to be known as “the cool uncle,” to all his players.

But one of them, at least for the moment, actually is his nephew.

Undrafted rookie Trevor Harman, a wide receiver from Shippensburg (Pa.) University, has plenty of background on his new boss, since they’re related.

The only time we talk is when he’s yelling at me,” Harman said, via Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

“He calls me Coach,” Arians said.

Arians’ brother Dennis is Harman’s grandfather, but this isn’t just another NFL neptoism hire. Harman didn’t get a signing bonus, and he left Shippensburg as his conference’s all-time leader in receptions (321) and receiving touchdowns (61).

But that still raises some eyebrows, and Harman joked that Larry Fitzgerald is keeping an eye on him.

“This morning he [Fitzgerald] called me an informant, which is kind of cool,” Harman said. “Then he put a note on the whiteboard that said, ‘Whatever happens here, whatever is said here has to stay here.’ And they [the other receivers] looked at me.

“I’m like, ‘Man, this is never going to end.’ ”

He can only hope it doesn’t. Despite the family tie, Harman’s best bet might be a a practice squad spot, in which case he might be able to hang with his uncle, the cool one that he is.
