Earlier this year, PLB Sports quit making Big Ben Beef Jerky after Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual misconduct for the second time in less than a year.
Now, PLB Sports has found a new NFL player around whom to build a brand.
Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco is getting his own cereal. On September 7, “Ochocinco’s” will go on sale at Kroger grocery stores in Cincinnati and Dayton. The cereal also will be available online.
“Chad is a great personality, and with his involvement in social media and his interaction with the fans, he was an athlete that we were very excited to work with,” PLB Sports President Ty Ballou said in a news release that we for some reason didn’t receiver. (And yet we still are giving the product some free publicity.) “One way or another, America has learned and is continuing to learn more about Chad Ochocinco off the field, and they’re finding out how great he is. Who wouldn’t want to share a breakfast table with him?”
The company made and marketed “TO’s” last year in Buffalo -- and we’ve got a feeling that the actual cereals will be the same thing.
Just don’t get them mixed up with your Alpha-Bits; you may end up thinking the bowl is haunted.
