Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said he’s fired up about what’s in store for the team over the second half of the season, but the team is going to need some healthy wide receivers if they’re going to improve on their 3-5 record.

They added one on Monday by claiming Jeremy Butler off of waivers from the Jets. Butler was waived when the Jets activated right tackle Breno Giacomini from the physically unable to perform list.

Butler was cut by the Ravens at the end of the summer and spent some time with the Buccaneers before heading to the Jets. He hasn’t seen any action in the regular season this year, but caught 31 passes for the Ravens last season.

The Chargers have lost Stevie Johnson and Keenan Allen for the season with knee injuries and have Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams on the active roster while they deal with knee injuries. Dontrelle Inman and Griff Whalen round out the receiving corps with Isaiah Burse waived to make room for Butler.
