The Buccaneers have had Doug Martin back in the lineup for the last two games and now another member of their backfield is on his way back to action.

The team has designated Charles Sims as their player to return from injured reserve this season. Sims will practice with the team on Wednesday, opening a three-week window to restore him to the active roster and it will be at least two weeks before that happens because Sims is not eligible to play in a game until Week 14.

Sims hurt his knee in Week Four against the Broncos and was placed on injured reserve a couple of days later. That was part of a rash of injuries at running back for the Buccaneers that also claimed Jacquizz Rodgers and Antone Smith.

With Martin back and Sims returning, the tide has started to go the other way for the Bucs. There’s also hope that Rodgers, who has an injured foot, can return to practice soon and give Tampa even more backfield strength as they try to close out the season with a winning record.
