Coach Todd Haley revealed on Monday that Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has an undisclosed health condition, according to Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star.
Haley noted that it wasn’t a life-threatening problem or heart-attack related. Babb noted he heard a variety of rumors about what’s bothering Weis on Monday. Haley wouldn’t say if Weis would be with the team during their bye week or the following week.
Weis has endured health problems dating back to his near fatal gastric bypass surgery. He also hurt his knee during this offseason and has been getting around using a cart and cane.
UPDATE: Babb reports Weis had an infected gall bladder removed Monday. It was diagnosed Friday, but Weis didn’t want to miss the game. He should be back with the team before next week’s game.
