Chiefs creep back into discussion with 3-game win streak
The Broncos grabbed the headlines leading up to and even during the game, when Peyton Manning went from breaking the NFL’s all-time record for passing yards to getting benched during what was probably the worst game of his career.
The Chiefs turned Manning’s 4 interceptions into a big lead and eventually into a 29-13 win. That makes three straight wins for the Chiefs, who are now 4-5 and not only back into AFC wildcard contention but, given the state of the Broncos, not totally out of the division race yet.
Stranger things have happened. Hot teams have proven capable of overcoming slow starts, too.
The Chiefs are playing good defense and have found a more than capable running back in Charcandrick West, who accounted for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns Sunday. It’s not an offense that wants to have to throw for 400 yards or come from two scores down, but the defense hasn’t given up more than 16 points in a game in a month and the Chiefs have a positive turnover ratio for the season after their last two games.
The Chiefs are at the struggling Chargers next week, then host the Bills in what could be a big game as far as the wildcard chase. Gettting way ahead, the Chiefs finish the season at the two-win Ravens, vs. the two-win Browns and vs. the Raiders.
The Chiefs have momentum for right now, and they’re at very least a team worth watching.
