C.J. Spiller will attend draft

Some of you scoffed at our item from Monday regarding the possibility that running back C.J. Spiller might end up being one of the first 10 players taken on the evening of April 22. Though he may still have to wait, he’ll be doing so under a spotlight.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Spiller has been invited to attend -- and will attend -- the draft in New York.

The invitation of Spiller could be an indication that one of the quarterbacks who have not yet accepted their pending offers (Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, and Tim Tebow) have said “no.” The eight known attendees include seven linemen and a safety.

Spiller widely is regarded as the top running back in the draft. The real question is whether, given the position he plays, he’s good enough to elbow his way into the top ten.
