The Seahawks don’t have a running game, or really an offense to speak of this season. So now more than ever, they’re relying on their defense.
And defensive end Cliff Avril has led the charge, and earned NFC defensive player of the month honors in the process.
Avril had 6.5 of his 7.5 sacks on the season in the last month, to go along with his three forced fumbles for the month. He was perhaps at his best in the 6-6 tie against the Cardinals, with 2.5 sacks that night alone.
While there have been a number of Seahawks on that side of the ball playing well (Bobby Wagner to name one), Avril has stood out with his ability to consistently pressure the passer.
