Colin Kaepernick is clearly warming up to this whole talking thing.

The 49ers quarterback said during an interview with ESPN’s Jim Trotter that he doesn’t think the team’s window is closing, while supporting coach Jim Harbaugh.

I think we have great confidence in coach Harbaugh and this staff and everything we’re doing to make sure this team is prepared for Sundays,” Kaepernick said, via CSNBayArea.com. “Things haven’t gone as smoothly as the last three seasons, so people start panicking and criticizing.

“But at the end of the day, if you told a team you were going to have a four-year run and have a Super Bowl appearance and [three] NFC Championship game appearances and the fourth season you might be so-so and you’ll have a chance to get into the playoffs again, there are a lot of organizations that would say, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’”

“So do we have the right to be criticized for some of the things we’ve done? Yes. We haven’t played our best football. But at the same time, you have to look at what coach Harbaugh and his staff have done in the grand scheme of things.”

Of course, the grand scheme of things could be exactly three more weeks, unless the 49ers make the playoffs. While the dysfunction between Harbaugh and the front office seems real, Kaepernick doesn’t think it’s been a distraction to the players.

Whether it has been or not, the results haven’t matched expectations, and changes are certainly coming.
