The Colts claimed safety Akeem Davis off waivers from the Seahawks Wednesday.
Davis also previously spent time with the Redskins, Saints and Buccaneers. He played in one game for the Seahawks before being waived on Tuesday.
The addition of Davis is probably designed to bolster the Colts’ kick coverage units a week after the Colts gave up a punt return touchdown to Jaguars rookie Rashad Greene. Davis has two special teams tackles and a special teams forced fumble in 16 career games.
The Colts also made a practice squad swap, adding linebacker Amarlo Herrera and cutting linebacker Edwin Jackson. Herrera was waived Tuesday when the Colts signed Andy Studebaker, who’s also a proven special teams player, and also cut offensive lineman Todd Herremans.
