The Dallas Cowboys won’t just have a trip to the second round of the playoffs on their minds when they host the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
They’ll be hoping to find a little as well against Lions receiver Golden Tate.
The Cowboys vividly remember their 2012 game in Seattle against Tate’s Seahawks when Tate decleated Dallas linebacker Sean Lee with a peel-back block that briefly knocked Lee out of the game.
“That was the dirtiest shot I’ve ever seen,” Cowboys safety Barry Church said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, via Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. “We were talking about it on the way back from Washington, me and Sean. He was just like, ‘Man, I wish I could play so bad in this game just to give a little payback for what he did in Seattle.’
Lee had his eyes focused on a scrambling Russell Wilson when Tate blindsided him with a blow to the chest in the fourth quarter of Seattle’s 27-7 win.. Tate wasn’t flagged for the hit but was later fined $21,000 for the play.
“Obviously [Lee] can’t play, but we’re definitely going to keep our radar out for [Tate] because that was a dirty shot. We’re looking forward to seeing him. We’ll definitely get him back after that, but it will be within the rules, within the rules.”
