Cowboys’ Shavon Revel expects to be the best cornerback in the NFL some day

Cowboys cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. got off to a slow start as a rookie last year, missing the first 10 games because of a knee injury he had suffered in college. But he became a starter late in the season, and he says that was just the beginning of a great NFL career.

“I am going to be, someday, the best cornerback in the league,” he told Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “That’s just how I look at it, and I have the confidence to say it. At the end of the day, I got to work.”

Revel says that even when he was starting down the stretch, he wasn’t fully recovered from that college knee injury.

“I did not feel like myself,” Revel said. “I just had that heart and grit to go out there. If I can still run, I’m going to go play. It’s all about what you can put in for the team. . . . One thing my dad taught me, if you go out there and play, go out there and play. That’s my opportunity to showcase something.”

Revel believes he’ll have the opportunity to showcase himself as the best in the NFL.
