The Cowboys have brought back an old face and signed two new ones in the last couple of days.
Dallas has signed safety Danny McCray, who spent four seasons with the team from 2010-2013 after making the roster as an undrafted free agent. McCray spent last season in Chicago, where he played for former Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamilis. Special teams was McCray’s primary role with both teams and the Cowboys lost one of their best players from those units when Dwayne Harris signed with the Giants as a free agent this offseason.
The Cowboys also announced the signings of seventh-round tight end Geoff Swain and seventh-round tackle Laurence Gibson. Gibson’s route to the roster wasn’t helped by La’el Collins’s arrival as an undrafted free agent while Swain will likely have to show the ability to join McCray as a special teamer to stick on the 53-man roster.
The Cowboys have now signed four of their eight draft picks, with first-round corner Byron Jones and second-round linebacker Randy Gregory among those still waiting to agree to terms.
