The goat in the NFC Championship Game, 49ers return man Kyle Williams, received death threats. But the goat in the AFC Championship Game, Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff, says people have been surprisingly supportive.

It’s been impressive,” Cundiff said at his alma mater, Drake University, in comments recorded by the Des Moines Register. “I expected more backlash.”

Cundiff said his teammates have had his back and told him that no NFL game is decided by any one player.

“I’ve had a lot of guys that kept telling me, ‘Look, I’ve made mistakes.’ Obviously, everyone sees my mistakes,” he said. “That’s just the way it goes.”

It’s easy to single out a scapegoat after a tough loss. But the Ravens have refrained from singling out Cundiff.
