Curtis Painter in line to start Monday night

Indianapolis Colts v Houston Texans

It’s fair to wonder if Colts coach Jim Caldwell is even the person deciding who will start at quarterback for Indianapolis this week.

No matter whose choice it is, all signs point towards Curtis Painter getting the call. Collins missed practice Thursday, the key day of preparation for Indy as they prepare for Monday Night Football. The team is preparing as if Painter will start.

The Colts signed Dan Orlovsky on Wednesday, which would only make sense if Collins is uncertain to be available this week. The team won’t say if Collins suffered a concussion against the Steelers.

Even if Collins could get ready, we get the sense the Colts would like to see what Painter could do with the opportunity. If it doesn’t work out, Collins could get healthy and get his job back the following week.
