Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had some talented receivers ahead of him on the Steelers depth chart for the last two years and he’ll continue to be in that situation in 2016.

Heyward-Bey was set to become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday, but he’ll be returning to the Steelers instead. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that it is a three-year deal for $3.8 million.

Heyward-Bey has played in every game for the Steelers over the last two seasons, starting five times and catching 24 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns. He added three catches for 70 yards in the team’s three postseason outings and has been a regular on special teams in Pittsburgh.

With Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Markus Wheaton and Sammie Coates all expected back with the Steelers for the 2016 season, it will probably take an injury for the 2009 first-round pick of the Raiders to see a change in his role.
